Lenovo Launches ThinkPad S1 Yoga And Three Haswell-Powered Ultrabooks

Lenovo has launched the ThinkPad S1 Yoga convertible Ultrabook along with a new range of ThinkPad Ultrabooks powered by Intel's fourth generation Haswell CPUs in India. The other three Ultrabooks are named ThinkPad T440, ThinkPad T440s, and ThinkPad X240s, which are all primarily for the enterprise segment. The new range claims to have better performance, reliability, durability, and battery backup.

The Lenovo ThinkPad S1 Yoga combines the functionality of a tablet and Ultrabook into a single device, thanks to its unique screen that can flip 360 degrees from laptop mode to stand mode and tend mode to tablet mode. The keyboard of the S1 Yoga is also uniquely designed with a Lift and Lock system that can disable the keyboard when it is not required, such as when the device is in the tablet or stand mode. It boasts of better security and business connectivity, thanks to the pre-loaded Intel SBA platform. The cost is Rs 80,000 onwards.

The Lenovo ThinkPad T440 has been designed with ease-of-use in mind. This Ultrabook loaded makes optimum use of Windows 8 with its 14" HD or HD+ screen with optional multitouch capabilities. It even has a trackpad that supports Windows 8 gestures. In addition to the fast Haswell processor, this comes with a 1 TB hard drive, and claims to have over 10 hours of battery backup. Additionally, it boasts of military-grade durability with fiberglass body. The starting price is slightly lower at Rs 78,000.

The ThinkPad T440s features a carbon fiber top cover to make it lighter and durable. It boasts of a plethora of connectivity options including mini-DisplayPort, VGA, USB, and SD card reader, to make it easy to view, share, and transfer data. Powered by the Intel Core i5 CPU, it comes with a touchscreen display and Windows 8 Pro. The price starts at Rs 90,000.

The ThinkPad X240s is the most expensive of the lot at a starting price of Rs 95,000. There are many reasons for the higher price - this is the thinnest and lightest full featured ThinkPad as of now, with a thickness of just 17.65 mm and weighing only 1.29 kg. It comes with VGA, mini-DisplayPort, and two SuperSpeed USB 3.0 ports for fast data transfers with compatible peripheral devices. It also features a crisp 12.5" Full HD IPS touchscreen display, durable carbon fiber body, and a glass trackpad. A backup of 6 hours has been claimed with the standard 4-cell battery.
Rahul Agarwal, Executive Director, Commercial Business Segment, Lenovo India, said, "ThinkPads are known for their reliability and pioneering innovation, and over the years the Think range of products have come to be highly revered by enterprise users. The new models of Ultrabooks meet and exceed the requirements of today’s workforce that needs portable, yet powerful computing devices. As we continue to grow in this PC+ era, multi-media devices like these, will add a new dimension to our existing portfolio of enterprise products and redefine the concept of enterprise computing in India".
All four laptops have been announced and are slated to become available in India next week.
